New welding program comes to Universal Technical Institute
The Sacramento, Calif., campus of Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has launched a new welding technology program. It features a curriculum developed with Lincoln Electric, a manufacturer of equipment for arc welding, automated joining, assembly, plasma cutting, and oxyfuel cutting.
Students who complete the program will be trained in multiple forms of welding and applications, using different types of metal transfer as they prepare to work in the construction, structural, pipe, and fabrication industries.
The 36-week course requires 501 hours of classroom instruction with 399 hours of hands-on lab coursework completed. Each student will learn four welding processes in their combination welder training, including GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW.
